This is a quick note to let you know that today we received a massive DoS attack to phpnuke.org pointing specificaly to the Forums module. After a little debug I found the attacker, blocked it, restored some damaged data from the database but unfortunately (as many you may already noticed) all the forums posts, replies, posters, etc. data has been corrupted due to the attack. At this time I just deactivated the module and I'm trying to find something useful in the database to restore it.
Unfortunately all data from the forums tables has been corrupted and it appears just unusable.
If I can fix this dissaster I'll reupload the forums soon, if I can't fix it the forums will remain deactivated while I'm looking what exactly happened and how to prevent this.
Looks like there are people out there that doesn't like the forums here.
Fortunately the server just resisted very well and the high speed connection did its job in this case.
Since I'm really tired about all the abuses, flames and wars caused by some users, I'll take actions on this situation and restore the peace for the serious users that want to work, use and enjoy this software and the site itself. It's time to start banning some people here.
I don't want to fight with this kind of stuff because I loose time doing thing that should not exists at all instead of coding, anyway I'll not fall for this, this gives me more reasons to continue doing what I like to do.
This is an unfortunate incident caused by people that doesn't face the success of PHP-Nuke and its great community, this will NOT stop us, we'll never look back. A depressed minority of abusers will not destroy PHP-Nuke, will not destroy the community.
Thanks for your attention and have a nice day!
By the way, for your information the attack came from the IP address: 213.247.57.201
